Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY


'Traminette'
Parentage: Joannes Seyve 23.416 x 'Gewürztraminer'
Cross was made in 1965 by Herb Barrett of the University of Illinois; seed planted and tested at Geneva
Combines desirable attributes of both parents:
Spicy, flavorful wine similar to acclaimed parent, 'Gewürztraminer'
Good cold hardiness
Good resistance to powdery mildew, black rot and Botrytis  bunch rot
Moderately productive
Ripens in early October in New York
Bred by grape breeders at Geneva in cooperation with the Enology Program of the Department of Food Science and Technology
