Fruits as Ornamentals

by Marvin Pritts

Marcia Eames-Sheavly and I have written a very practical booklet entitled

Cornell Guide to Growing Fruit at Home
Also available online [1.8M .pdf].

Fruiting plants can make a wonderful addition to the home landscape. Few are aware of the wide range of fruiting plants that are available, or the advances that have been made by breeders affecting pest resistance and harvest season. Fruiting plants are often just as attractive as standard ornamentals, but they have the added benefit of producing a healthful snack or dessert. And nothing tastes better than fresh fruit picked at the peak of ripeness from your own garden.
