Inoculation method
We tested 3 inocultaion methods:
- Granules. Clay granules containing spores. Applied in the seed furrow.
- Planter box. Fine powder with spores. Applied to seeds in the planter box.
- Slurry. A liquid suspension of spores applied in the lab. Has short shelf
life.
Granules, planter box seed treatment and slurry seed treatment
were sown side by side without any fungicide on the seed. The slurry seed
treatment is most effective but not yet (1997) in commercial production.
Planter box resulted in more colonization than granules, and it was insignificantly
lower than the slurry treatment.

Recommendation
Planter box treatment produces as good a colonization as the ideal
laboratory treatment.
Do not use T-22 Granules to inoculate sweet corn. They don't work
well enough.
