National Issues Task Force
American Society for Horticultural Science
I lead my professional society's effort to maintain funding for our profession, with special emphasis for federal funding for horticultural research and extension.
In 2011, the ASHS Board of Directors and I met with Roger Beachy (Head of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture) and Catherine Woteki (Undersecretary of Agriculture for Research Education and Economics) at the Whitten Building on the mall in Washington DC. We discussed efforts underway to substantially expand current funding for horticulture.
